5-Stage Reverse Osmosis explained

Reverse osmosis (RO) pushes water through an ultra-fine membrane that reduces dissolved salts, heavy metals, fluoride, PFAS and microscopic particles. Pre-filtration stages protect the membrane, and optional remineralisation restores trace minerals.

RO is a point-of-use system: it is installed under the kitchen sink and delivers water through its own tap. It is not designed for the whole house, because whole-home reverse osmosis is generally not practical due to flow and pressure limitations as well as waste water.

Many households pair a whole-home filter for showers and appliances with an RO tap for drinking water. We assess your water and plumbing first and recommend what actually suits your home.

5-Stage Reverse Osmosis: common questions

What contaminants does reverse osmosis reduce?

Reverse osmosis reduces dissolved salts, heavy metals, fluoride, PFAS and microscopic particles. Pre-filtration stages protect the membrane, and optional remineralisation restores trace minerals for taste and balance.

Does reverse osmosis remove healthy minerals?

Yes. Reverse osmosis uses an ultra-fine membrane that strips almost everything from the water, including both unwanted contaminants and naturally occurring minerals. That's why our systems include a remineraliser, which restores beneficial trace minerals to improve taste and help maintain balanced alkalinity.

Is reverse osmosis for the whole house?

No. RO systems are designed as point-of-use systems for a single tap. Whole home reverse osmosis is generally not practical due to flow and pressure limitations as well as waste water.

Do I need both a whole system and an RO system?

Many homeowners find a whole home system delivers the improvement they're looking for across the house. However, if you want ultra-fine filtration for drinking water, an RO system can complement your whole home filtration system by adding an additional level of protection (fluoride for example) at a dedicated tap. They are not either-or. They work exceptionally well together.

What's the difference between whole home filtration and reverse osmosis?

Whole home filtration is installed at the main water inlet and treats water before it reaches taps, showers and appliances. It targets chlorine, chloramine, sediment and other common contaminants while helping protect plumbing and reduce scale build-up through your whole house.
